Tilting West: A Western Themed Group Exhibit at the Arvada Center

Join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, June 4th, 6pm - 9pm

I'm thrilled to announce that my mountain landscape painting, "Sundown," has been juried into the Tilting West exhibit at the Arvada Center in Arvada, Colorado. Being selected for this prestigious exhibition is a deeply meaningful milestone, and I'm truly honored to share wall space with so many talented contemporary artists from across the region.

Sundown captures the quiet drama of the mountain landscape at the end of the day — that fleeting moment when golden light surrenders to shadow and the peaks seem to glow from within. Painted on a large-scale canvas, the work invites viewers to slow down, breathe, and feel the stillness that only the mountains can offer. It is a piece rooted in a personal reverence for the Colorado landscape and the timeless rhythms of the natural world.

The painting found a natural home in Tilting West, a large-scale group exhibition in which the Arvada Center Galleries invites contemporary regional artists — whether or not they identify as Western artists — to explore and reinterpret the American Western genre through a contemporary lens. The exhibition challenges traditional notions of Western art, encouraging work that reflects diverse perspectives, materials, and themes, from environmental concerns to social commentary. It's a show that asks bold questions about what "the West" means today, and I love that Sundown can be part of that conversation.

The Arvada Center is a premium venue for the arts in the Denver metro area. With a focus on living Colorado artists and artists of the Western region, the Arvada Center Galleries host more than 12 art exhibitions each year across three distinctive galleries spanning over 10,000 square feet of space. The galleries are free and open to the public seven days a week, ensuring that access to local and regional art remains available to everyone.

I would love to see you at the opening reception on Thursday, June 4th from 6pm – 9pm. Come celebrate, explore the full exhibition, and experience the breadth of contemporary Western art on display. Learn more at arvadacenter.org/galleries.
